The Juggling Act of Being a Working Parent

Being a working parent in the Travel industry can be a challenging and rewarding experience. Balancing the demands of work and family life can feel like a juggling act at times (I know understatement of the year!) but we knew there must be others feeling the same way, so we decided to act!

This is when Back in Time for Bed was Born!

Here are some tips to help you juggle…

  • Set priorities: Determine what is most important to you and your family. This will help you make decisions about how to allocate your time and energy.
  • Communicate with your employer: Talk to your employer about your family responsibilities and explore options for flexible scheduling or working from home.
  • Utilise support systems: Lean on family, friends, and childcare providers to help you manage your responsibilities at home.
  • Take care of yourself: Make time for self-care activities like exercise, reading, or spending time with friends. This will help you recharge and be more focused and productive at work and at home.
  • Be present: When you are at work, focus on work. When you are at home, focus on your family. Being present in the moment can help you be more productive and reduce stress.
  • Working away: Whilst away with work do what works for you, whether that be video calls with the kids, messages, voice notes. Whatever gives you the most comfort.

Being a working parent is a balancing act, but with some planning and prioritising, it is possible to find a healthy balance. Remember to take care of yourself and utilise support systems to help manage your responsibilities at home and at work.
